I realize I’ve jumped on the XY starter bandwagon late. And I honestly don’t care in the slightest.

Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie given a touch of Stel-style. I like Chespin a whole lot more when it DOESN'T look like a Pachirisu with a funny hat.

I approve of this. It makes the starters easier to look at for sure, and I do like your style. :>

See, this Fennekin and Chespin actually look like creatures. Fennec foxes are awesome, so why does Sugimori-style Fennekin suck so much? As for official style Chespin... what is it? Yours is much more obviously some sort of Grass-Type hedgehog.

Still not a fan of Froakie. The bubbles are just... weird. I'd like it fine as a frog without the bubbles.

Because Sugimori-style Fennekin is a bobbleheaded Kawaii-monstrosity designed to appeal to a very specific type of target audience. Fanservice monster, essentially.

And I don't even know what Sugimori's take on Chespin is other than a Pachirisu with a hoodie. I went with the hedgehog-y take because its Japanese name suggests hedgehogs.

I dunno. Frogs and foam go hand in hand. A good number of frog species use foam to make their nests, so why not really?

Chespin's French name suggests hedgehogs too, and even Chespin - chestnut + porcupine. I'm wondering if the "hoodie" is supposed to be the shell of a chestnut? You know, the green spiky thing that the nut grows inside?

Didn't know that about frogs and foam. You are FULL of awesome biological facts, my friend :D.

I'm pretty sure that's -exactly- what Chespin's hoodie is supposed to represent. I've actually factored it into my design, although considering chestnut shells already look like hedgehog quills it's difficult to notice. XD

And yeah, I'm a trash can for useless bio-informations XD
